CANVAS SOLARIS - PENUMBRA DIFUSE (###)

- SR 3030 -
January 2006

"Penumbra Diffuse" demonstrates musical artists that continue to mature. Now drawing inspiration from progressive Gods like King Crimson, Voivod and Mr. Bungle, they have added more textural elements, with keyboards and acoustic instruments playing a more prominent role in the music. The music now has a more expansive sound but still retaining their trademark technical elements.

DEGREE ABSOLUTE - DEGREE ABSOLUTE (###)

- SR 3019 -
January 2006

It is extremely difficult to put one specific label on the Degree Absolute material. While having firm roots in progressive metal, DA strays from the path quite frequently, exploring the worlds of jazz and ambient music, as well as doom, thrash, and technical metal. If it was possible to compare the music of DA to the music of other well-known bands, one could say that it is based somewhere between Fates Warning's semi-progressive melodies and WatchTower's technical playing skills.

STRIDE - IMAGINE (###)

- SR 3029 -
November 2005

Stride has the uncanny ability to blend insane chops from hell with infectious anthem-like melodies served up by a vocalist that instantly reminds you of greats like Steve Perry and Steve Walsh. "Imagine" draws its energy from the technicality of Dream Theater and a touch of the polished hard rock sounds of Journey. It's a combination that has already captured the attention of progressive metal fans around the world

ZERO HOUR - A FRAGILE MIND (###)

- SR 3028 -
September 2005

After one false start and with a new vocalist on board, Zero Hour are finally ready to unleash their long awaited third album. The band's second album "The Towers of Avarice" took the progressive metal world by storm in 2001. The band quickly established a solid fanbase around the world. They successfully toured Europe and performed twice at ProgPower USA in Atlanta, the largest prog-metal music festival in the world. 2003 and 2004 saw the band in a holding pattern as they recorded what was to be their follow up release. Unfortunately personnel problems forced a lineup change and new vocalist Fred Marshall was brought on board. With the long delay (and a bit of bad karma now behind them) the band decided to start from scratch and begin recording fresh. The result is the massive sounding "A Fragile Mind", an incredible statement of powerful and intelligent metal. In the past their music has been labeled as "technical metal" but this is just a jumping off point for the band's current work. Expect more power, more energy and most of all a warmer and epic sound courtesy of noted producer Dino Alden (Marty Friedman, Racer X).

WHITE WILLOW - SIGNAL TO NOISE (###)

- LE 1044 -
January 2006

White Willow's fifth studio album, "Signal to Noise", album was recorded at Jailhouse Studios in Denmark, and was mixed and produced by legendary producer Tommy Hansen (Helloween, TNT, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus). Cover art is by Killustrations, who also did the "Storm Season" cover. The line-up features Trude Eidtang (vocals), Lars Fredrik Frøislie (keyboards, electronics), Jacob Holm-Lupo (guitars), Ketil Vestrum Einarsen (woodwinds), Marthe Berger Walthinsen (bass guitar) and Aage Moltke Schou (drums, percussion). Brynjar Dambo, who played keyboards on "Sacrament", guests on one track. Track listing is as follows: Night Surf, Splinters, Ghosts, Joyride, The Lingering, The Dark Road, Chrome Dawn, Dusk City, Ararat. The album was recorded in three weeks, in contrast to their usual one-year-of-recording policy. This is reflected in a leaner, more band-oriented sound, and more focused songwriting. The band foregoes some of the hard rock elements of the previous record, while still retaining the force and intensity typical of the band's current incarnation, and blending their distinct symphonic arrangements with a contemporary, direct attitude. And there's still plenty of Mellotron!

A TRIGGERING MYTH - A REMEDY OF ABSTRACTION (###)

- LE 1044 -
January 2006

After the release of their groundbreaking fifth album, "Forgiving Eden," the instrumental rock duo of A Triggering Myth had only one direction to go -- expand the group concept even further. Once again, noted guitarist Scott McGill and drummer Vic Stevens were asked to contribute to the band's sixth album. World renowned bassist Michael Manring came aboard, fully integrating the three members of McGill Manring Stevens into the mix. Band founders Rick Eddy and Tim Drumheller wanted to add some additional sonic textures, so they made contact with violinist Akihisa Tsuboy of the Japanese fusion band KBB. He graciously agreed to contribute as a guest offering up two smoking hot solo spots. Once again A Triggering Myth continue to evolve and push the boundaries of progressive music. Recommended to fans of Soft Machine, National Health, and Happy the Man. "The Remedy of Abstraction" arrives in a beautiful digipak featuring artwork and graphic design by the award winning Travis Smith.

INDUKTI - S.U.S.A.P. (###)

- LE 1042 -
September 2005

The five classically trained musicians in Indukti have created a mostly instrumental sound that is a roller coaster ride of emotions. To add the icing on the cake, they were assisted in the studio by Riverside vocalist Mariusz Duda and Kayanis harpist Anna Faber on several tracks. To retain the spontaneity and energy of a live performance, "S.U.S.A.R." was recorded live in the studio, recording all instruments simultaneously to preserve that vibe. Indukti surely succeeded, as the CD is crisp, vibrant, and crackling with energy. As a bonus, this enhanced CD includes an exclusive Quicktime video for the unreleased track “Mantra”. With a heavy but complex sound, Indukti can't help but create interest from both progressive and prog metal fans around the world.

WOBBLER - HINTERLAND (###)

- LE 1041 -
September 2005

Wobbler play pure, unadulterated progressive music with no compromises. Their debut CD Hinterland is over five years in the making and the care and craftsmanship show. Led by keyboardist / composer Lars Fredrik Frøislie (who also plays with prog / folk greats White Willow), Wobbler have a sound that echoes the best of the 1973-74 progressive scene. Hinterland bursts with mellotrons, hammonds, and Chris Squire-meets-Jon Camp bass lines. For the die-hard prog listener, this is the real deal - straight, solid progressive music that sits proudly by Mirage-era Camel, Starless & Bible Black-era King Crimson, and Octopus-era Gentle Giant. Hinterland is a blast of fresh Norwegian air that rocks melodically and rolls in about 147 time signatures!

RIVERSIDE : OUT OF MYSELF (###)

- LE 1039 -
September 2004

This young Polish band has created an emotional musical journey through dark and moody atmospheres that find kindred spirits in Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Anathema, and Pink Floyd. With a sound that encompasses prog, psychedelia, metal and even alternative rock, Riverside is poised to break through to a wider audience. Riverside is a way of expressing reflections, dreams and fantasies through music. It is an idea for exposing emotions, for an escape from the grey or unnaturally overcoloured reality. It is music inspired by a time, a place, a thought and a word, a figment of their own and other people's imagination. It is joy and sadness, a whisper and a scream.

- LE 1038 -
September 2004

White Willow has been named "one of the most significant progressive groups of the current era" by The Billboard Guide to Progressive Music, and "the Mazzy Star of prog" by College Music Journal. Over the course of four albums their music has evolved from a soft, pastoral sound based around female vocals, mellotron, woodwinds and acoustic guitars, to a more gothic-tinged electric and rock-based sound, with heavier guitars being especially prominent on the band's new offering, the turbulent "Storm Season".

KNIGHT AREA : THE SUN ALSO RISES

- LE 1037 -

DEATH MACHINE - DEATH MACHINE

- SR 3021 - 2003 -

Building on the time worn foundations of drums, guitars, bass and vocals, the music of Death Machine incorporates elements of a wide range of heavy music while not being a slave to those inspirations. While Devin weaves a thick spiral of groove with his bass, he is just as likely to tap and hammer away with ferocious timing and intensity. His low, rumbling bass lines are perfectly matched in the eerie symbolism of thick, unique textures presented by Thrak who damages the air with riffs that seemingly arrive straight from the netherworld. Their dual polyrhythmic assaults receive the perfect complement with a percussion section all his own in Mike, who hits hard, clean and with compelling persuasion. The vocals, harsh and aggressive, spit forth from the lips of Kirk, a tireless performer whose seemingly boundless energy wraps itself around lyrics both apocalyptic, dark and pleading. What's more, Death Machine has added an element of theatricality with the addition of electronics, courtesy of Elias. He uses tones that simultaneously blanket the compositions while adding a rigorous dynamic counter element of melody or percussion at unexpected junctures.

REDEMPTION - REDEMPTION

- SR 3018 - 2003 -

Redemption's self-titled release is the first CD from a project that has been a long time in the making. This album encompasses many musical styles, but it can be best described as dark prog/power metal with a sound that reflects a hypothetical combination of Evergrey, later-period Savatage, Kansas, Iron Maiden and Fates Warning. The members of this band are well known for their previous work with Fates Warning, Engine, Agent Steel, Steel Prophet, Warlord and Symphony X.

GORDIAN KNOT - EMERGENT

- SR 3016 - 2003 -

In 1999, former Cynic bassist Sean Malone stunned the metal and progressive rock world with the debut release of his Gordian Knot project. Featuring a lineup of renowned musicians it blurred the distinction between rock and metal creating a defining statement for the genre. Three years in the making the follow up album, Emergent, pushes the envelope even further. Perhaps heavier and more complex it seamlessly blends rock, metal and fusion. Once again Sean Malone has surrounded himself with a stellar cast of musicians.

NEMESIS : EDEN?

- SR 3015 - 2002 -

In the late '90s, Nemesis quickly rose to the top of the Hungarian progressive metal scene with their two albums "Nemesis" and "Abraxas". Frustrated by an inability to cross over into the Western metal arena the band briefly dissolved. After reforming with a new lineup the band decided to re-record and re-arrange their old material but with a major difference: this time around they would sing in English. "Eden?" demonstrates the band's ability to create dark and moody progressive metal laced with heavy riffing, keyboard driven spaciness and an exotic Eastern vibe. Influences of Dream Theater, Fates Warning and Pink Floyd are present but the combinationis unique and clearly defined as Nemesis' own sound.
