POWERFUL PROGRESSIVE METAL
German band LANFEAR is without a doubt one of the most exciting young band to emerge on the European power/progressive metal scene in the last decade. With their powerful progressive metal, filled with lots of melodies and exciting riffs, soaring vocals and great technicality, LANFEAR paves the way for future European metal bands. |

LANFEAR were founded at the end of 1993. Their debut album "Towers Of February" was released in 1996 by the band themselves. Several record labels showed interest but unfortunately the band didn«t get many serious offers.
The more progressive second work "Zero Poems" was recorded in 1999 which was published on the former producers label "Famous Kitchen". Many reviews and worldwide interviews followed, the public interest about Lanfear grew rapidly. By the end of 1999 "Zero Poems" finally got distributed by Solid Rock/Point Music and sold very well. Singer and keyboarder Stefan Zoerner left the band in early 2000 because of personal reasons. Luckily, LANFEAR quite quickly found an excellent keyboarder called Richie Seibel (Charisma, Ivanhoe). The search for a good singer ought to be much harder than expected. Finally LANFEAR got in contact with Tobias Althammer (Painful Faith), the right person for this job. In January 2002 LANFEAR recorded three new songs for promotional reasons. Many labels showed interest, finally LANFEAR decided to sign at Massacre Records. The third album "The Art Effect" was recorded in Dreamscape studios, Munich, and was released on March, 3rd, 2003. Compared with the previous productions, "The Art Effect" is more variable in rhythm, the material sounds very heavy and is more easy to get into. Therefore the songs are probably more relatable to Power Metal but without falling into the usual kinds of stereotypes. The reactions from press and fans were fantastic, "T.A.E." got great reviews, achieved top ranks in some of the biggest Metal magazines as f.e. "Rock Hard" or "Heavy, Oder Was!?" and sold very good. LANFEAR played many gigs and festivals in 2003 and 2004 and also started songwriting for the next album In September 2004 LANFEAR took the offer from Intromental Management, Denmark and decided to cooperate, just to do the next step on the ladder and to reach an even larger audience. Studio recordings for the fourth album "Another Golden Rage" took place in October/November 2004 in Dreamscape studios. In the late spring of 2005 the album was released in Europe by Massacre Records and by Nightmare Records in USA. In early 2006 the band went through a change in line-up, as LANFEAR parted ways with Tobias and found a new vocalist in Nuno Miguel de Barros Fernandes (known from the power/prog metal band Anguish). With new blood in the band, the guys took their time writing their next opus, which finally found its release in the fall of 2008 (by Locomotive Music worldwide). "X To the Power of Ten" is a major step forward for the band, with the right amount of technicality and progression mixed in with the raw and face-on power metal of Lanfear. The band has come back stronger than ever before. |
