Danish progressive heavy metal band MANTICORA surprise-release today a new official video, of the track "Día De Los Muertos".
The song, present in the recently released new album from the quartet, titled "Mycelium", has a lyric approach that deals with death in a rather uncommon way,
"Upon driving in the mountains of Italy, I had a deep pondering on the vastness of the mountains and about all the souls that had been born, had lived and died while those mountains just stood there", vocalist Lars F. Larsen recalls. "It made me want to write lyrics in Latin about remembering the dead. Turned out to be the Spanish title for "Day Of the Dead" and it fit the concept on the new album "Mycelium" album perfectly - we thereby pay tribute to the beautiful traditions from all over the world, where people celebrate life, through celebrating death".
In how the song relates to the whole "Mycelium" concept, Lars says: "The song is about the urgent need for us to remember our dead ancestors, in order to stop a demon invasion from beyond our own realm and the music is really the most trademark Manticora song on the whole album"
“Mycelium” is out now on CD, LP (black vinyl, limited to 500) and digital formats via Mighty Music.

Thrash, prog, power, black, death + pure heavy metal and everything else, your metalheart desires, put into one album, is usually what MANTICORA is all about.
The band, that started out in 1997 - nine albums ago - as a power metal outfit, has transformed and thereby developed their own unique style of heavy metal - a melting pot of everything you want to hear, as a genuine metal fan.
Welcome to “Mycelium”, out today.
After their grandiose, critically acclaimed two-album concept from 2018/2020 plus a 334-page novel (written by the band's singer Lars F. Larsen), which the albums were based on - the Danes have scaled down a bit and written another majestic concept album, but this time only spanning a 48-minute mark, in total.
“Mycelium”, the new opus, is less symphonic and with an angrier, raw approach, with aggressiveness as the main focus. Manticora has created a DIY album, where the only outside influence has been the mastering (done by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios). Everything else is crafted by the band: concept, lyrics, music, production, artwork - you name it, Manticora provides.
High-octane metal, which is only recommended for the strong at heart.
“Mycelium” is out today on, CD, LP (black vinyl, limited to 500 copies) and digital formats via Mighty Music.
Orders are available here . Digital version here.

After the news that they'll be releasing their next studio album "Mycelium" in January 2024 via Mighty Music, Danish prog/heavy metallers MANTICORA are now back with the second digital single from the record.
"Necropolitans" is the opening track of the album; a journey deep into the symphonic aspect of the Manticora musical universe. Indecently catchy and in-your-face. Just how you want an opening track!

The video was produced by Wayne Joyner, who has done artwork and videos for Dream Theater, Everdawn, ProgPower USA, Scar Symmetry, Static X and Sevendust, among others.
"I've known Manticora for 18 years and given their history and musical endeavours, I added a Cthuluian vibe to the video - most of the video was created in Unreal Engine, to help tell the story visually and in 3D", Joyner comments.

Check the "Necropolitans" lyric video below or in one of our official media partners for its debut, which premiered it earlier today.

The impressive artwork was created by Jan Yrlund (Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani, Delain).
After a few changes in the line-up and the inclusion of the amazing voice of the young and very talented Russian born, Canadian singer Alina Gavrilenko, who brought a full-blown energetic vocal approach into the new songs of the band, the name was changed into EVERDAWN, to signal a fresh beginning.
The second album from the band, entitled "Cleopatra" was released worldwide on March 5th, 2021. After the release of "Cleopatra", the 5-piece went on a sold-out European tour, as sole support band for worldwide acclaimed guitar virtuoso Michael Schenker, while also writing their new opus "Venera", which was recorded, mixed and mastered during the fall of 2022 (Jacob Hansen @ Hansen studios took care of working magic with the sound as he has done with so many bands, a.o. Volbeat, Amaranthe, Destruction, Pretty Maids).
The melodic style of the band is unmistakable and with soaring guitar solos, a nd a truly unique voice, EVERDAWN is proving that they are a band to be reckoned with.

Danish power/progsters MANTICORA re-invent their thrashy approach to writing aggressive music.
Slayer, Testament, Artillery - blended with an old In Flames vibe... And then Manticorized!
Are you curious?
Listen to “Beast Of The Fall”, their new single, and check the accompanying new official video, released today as a teaser to what will be the band's upcoming tenth studio album.

The band comments: "With the concept of the album in mind and with the lyrics for this song, dealing with dark demons, arriving to the Earth, through the Mycelium beneath the soil in the forest, we wanted to display a forest, as eerie and scary as possible, to create a feeling of not wanting to be in that particular place.
A place where evil lurks and hell on Earth could emerge".

Thrash, prog, power, black, death + pure heavy metal and everything else, your metalheart desires, is usually what Manticora is all about.

Intromental Worldwide is proud to announce the signing of the talented, Norwegian prog-metal act COURSE OF FATE.
There's something special in the water in Norway. Something that makes musicians play indecently amazing progressive metal.
Following the ranks of acts, such as Circus Maximus, Leprous and Pagan's Mind, and taking great inspiration from bands, such as Queensryche, Dream Theater, Opeth a.o. , COURSE OF FATE are displaying a fresh, very melodic and less ultra-technical take on the Norwegian prog-tradition with their fine-tuned and catchy music.
COURSE OF FATE released their first full-length "Mindweaver" in 2020 through Rock Of Angels Records and have been putting the corona-break to good use, as the 2nd and brand-new album is already written and ready to be released in the fall of 2023. Much more to come about that album!

MANTICORA signs with Mighty Music!
"Bring the boys back home" - sung by Pink Floyd some 44 years ago and a sentence which could be a theme for Mighty Music to sign the Danish thrash-prog/power metal act Manticora for what will be their 10th release in a career, spanning more than three decades (debut album in 1999).
Manticora has been signed to labels from both Greece, Italy, Germany and Sweden, and now it's time to return back to their motherland and to the largest Danish record label within the metal world.
Set for a release in January 2024, Manticora is right now adding the finishing touches on their new album. A tour de force in the unique blend of what has become the Manticora trademark style. Sounding like no other, as musical inspiration is gathered from anywhere, but still fitting along the lines of acts, like Nevermore, Savatage, Slayer, Blind Guardian and even Metallica. This 10th album is an uncompromising statement of perseverance, talent and undying motivation.

Kasper Gram, Bass, explains:
"We are VERY thrilled to announce, that we have signed a worldwide deal with Mighty Music for the release of our next album!
Signing with Mighty Music is definitely the right decision for us as a band, since they're already taking care of our bookings on Danish territory and doing a great job.
They're also a Copenhagen-based company which gives us the opportunity for a really close, efficient and constructive collaboration that we are very much looking forward to!"

Ring of Gyges presents the first single and video, "Parasite", from their forthcoming album "Metamorphosis", which is set for release via ViciSolum Productions on May 19th. An amazingly vivid and beautifully thought-provoking piece of art, which will make fans of bands like Leprous, Port Noir and Haken thrilled.

The band on the shooting on the video:
"We spent a very cold couple of days out in the breathtaking landscapes and adorable little villages o f South-Western Iceland with our fantastic director Gaui and a fantastic cast of actors, creating the video for our latest single Parasite. Fun fact: one of the scenes is filmed inside the home of the local sheriff in Guojons hometown. We hope you enjoy it at least half as much as we enjoyed making it, although Gísli has insisted on a warmer location for the next shoot".

We are super excited to announce that our new album "Decrowned" will be released this year by the Swedish record label ViciSolum. Intromental Worldwide is proud to welcome the immense talent of the Hungarian extreme prog/thrash band, NEEDLESS.

This 5piece of amazing musicians was signed last year to Uprising!
Records and caught the attention of Intromental, with the great album "The Cosmic Cauldron" - a tour de force in odd patterns, aggressive riffing, energetic outbursts and power - all wrapped in an underlying Hungarian folklore-vibe, to make the band stand out from their contemporaries.

NEEDLESS released their first full-length album "Heresy" in 2019 and they are a band, completely ready to take on the European stages, with a live-show, that leaves nothing to be desired.
Full-throttle energy from start to finish on all stations is a foundation for success and these guys can take it far....

NEEDLESS is one of those bands, where you think: Is all this really possible to cram into one album? It's a dish with topping from all sides of the spectrum and then some. It's progressive, it's black, it's atmospheric, it's thrash, it's death.

Today, Portuguese proggers-extraordinaire, SULLEN unleashes their new and amazing album "Nodus Tollens - Act 1: Oblivion" upon the world.

Sullen's new album establishes a sonic evolution from the band's debut, while retaining the somber nature that characterizes their music. Layered textures of fierce vocals, guitars, drums, synths and sound effects are intertwined with meditative passages, all permeated by the turmoil of changing time signatures and elusive chord progressions that make for an enticing listening experience. An amazing tour de force into a true progressive universe that leaves nothing to be desired.

"Nodus Tollens - Act 1: Oblivion" will be released digitally today on multiple streaming and download platforms, following the previous release of the first single/video, entitled "Prodigal Son" and the 2nd single/lyrical video, entitled "Memento". Check it out here: www.sullenpt.bandcamp.com

The album will also be released in a limited edition, as physical CD, which will be available through the band's own channels.
Nodus Tollens is a neologism by John Koenig used to define the feeling of insecurity that some people get when they find that their lives don't make sense any more.

“Nodus Tollens - Act 1: Oblivion” portrays the apprehension of reality and the need for a paradigm shift; the realization that you're not following the arc of the story – you must go back and reread the chapters you skimmed to get to the good parts – and that all along you were supposed to choose your own adventure.

EVERDAWN: New Noise Magazine Premieres "Stranded In Bangalore" From Symphonic Metal Quintet; Dan Swanö-Mastered Cleopatra Album Nears Release Through Sensory Records + Preorders Posted

Stream EVERDAWN's "Stranded In Bangalore" HERE.

New Jersey-based symphonic metal quintet EVERDAWN is preparing to unveil their epic Dan Swanö-mastered second album, Cleopatra, through Sensory Records in early February. With the record nearing release, the first single has been issued to the public, with an exclusive premiere of the song "Stranded In Bangalore" hosted by New Noise Magazine.

Formerly known as Midnight Eternal, EVERDAWN is embodied by lead vocalist Alina Gavrilenko, guitarist/vocalist Richard Fischer, bassist Mike LePond (Symphony X), drummer Dan Prestup, and keyboardist Boris Zaks. Through the course of eleven epic new songs, the band delivers forty-eight minutes of epic, progressive, symphonic metal on Cleopatra.

EVERDAWN keyboardist Boris Zaks reveals with the new song, "We picked 'Stranded In Bangalore' as a single since it is straightforward, catchy, and accessible yet a mystical song that incorporates the elements of Asian culture from the Western point of view. This song is for anyone who has ever felt completely lost yet unconditionally found - to feeling the mind and heart go to battle. No one is strong enough to always let the mind win. Within the lyrics, the beautiful Indian city of Bangalore serves as a global backdrop to the shared, human experience endured when we are affected, attached - or in love."

Cleopatra's vocalswere recorded at Soundmine Recording, the guitars recorded at Frightbox Recording with engineer Bobby Torres, the bass, drums, and keyboards recorded at RMF Recording Studios, the bass engineered by Richard Fischer and additional editing by Bobby Torres. Upon completion, the album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound (Opeth, Riverside, Katatonia), and is completed with cover artwork by Gyula Havancsák of Hjules Illustration and Design and photography by Alexandra Hassan and Northern Luna. Additionally, Therion vocalist Thomas Vikström provides additional vocals to the track "Your Majesty Sadness."

Danish prog-thrash veterans, MANTICORA have released the 2nd video offering from their critically acclaimed 9th album "To Live To Kill To Live", the follow-up and 2nd part of a huge concept, to 2018's "To Kill To Live To Kill" - both albums, based on the 334-page horror/thriller novel that lead singer Lars F. Larsen wrote.

Video link HERE!

The album has been amazingly received by the press to a degree that MANTICORA have never in their 20+ career received such appraisal from an almost united press-core, so the band felt that a 2nd video offering would be appropriate.

This semi-lyrical video for the song "Katana - Death Of The Meaning Of Life" - a song, with a very strong Nevermore-ish feel to it, is vividly composed and produced by the talented Chilean video producer Federico Bossinga from the company Abstract Chaos.

The story of the song is again a very sad, bordering on despair-inducing, tale which the band is delving deep into at several occasions on the last 2 albums, making up the huge concept.

Bass-player, Kasper Gram explains the story:
Since this song deals with the story in which a young Dutch sailor - situated in Hong Kong, 1921, at the time when the story takes place - is falling in love with a local prostitute and looking at what he calls the love of his life, getting brutally murdered by local thugs, we wanted to express ourselves in colours that match the story.

The light blue colours, resembling the room in which most of the story takes place, the dark red, resembling the extreme amount of blood, present in the story, when several people are killed in violent ways (by means of either gun or Katana.

Federico was fed the lyrics, the story and all our ideas and impressions of this sad story and he has splendidly matched the storyline with the colours and imagery.

Following the line-up change in the ranks of the Swedish avantgarde/melo-death veterans Loch Vostok - introducing their new clean-vocalist, Jonas Radehorn - the band has recorded a brand-new single with the title "When The Wolves Have Eaten Everything", as an ear-candy trailer for the coming album, this way, letting the fans know what to expect from the band for the future.

Changing the vocalist in a band is a drastic move, but Loch Vostok proves that it's possible to do just that, and at the same time, keep the integrity of the band and their sound intact.

Check out the video for "When The Wolves Have Eaten Everything" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B22znJS16lM&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR1lgOUvEZ4fc_iGSpTiq0VaMNzYVVuVcWFaln5J6xfL5ztwRaNUTQlfSO4

Teddy Möller (guitars/growls) on the music and lyrics: Continuing on the topic of anti-consumerism with a fresh approach was the start of this song. The main riff in the verse came to me while reading what I just wrote. The whole song was done in just two hours. We actually tried to keep it shorter but the song demanded this length to develop properly. It's a great opportunity to present the talent that Jonas brings to Loch Vostok.

Bassplayer Patrik Janson elaborates on the visuals: The theme is derived from an interpretation of the lyrical content, and the imagery is supposed to symbolise the never-ending story of man vs. nature. What happens when we have used all of nature's resources?

MANTICORA, the Danish prog-thrash veterans, are releasing the first single/video from their upcoming album "To Live To Kill To Live", the follow-up and 2nd part of a huge concept, to 2018's "To Kill To Live To Kill" - both albums, based on the 334-page horror/thriller novel that lead singer Lars F. Larsen wrote (also released in 2018).

Video link HERE!

The video for the song "Eaten By The Beasts" deals with the brutal murder of a young criminal, who has raped the daughter of a farmer. The farmer hires a hitman to get rid of the rapist, and the rapist is eaten alive by a number of huge, hungry pigs, owned by the farmer. It's all karma, and the video is based on the concept.

Guitarist, Stefan Johansson on the concept of the video:
We worked together with Kasper Serup from KSC Production to create this music video. Visually, we knew that it had to tell a quite complex story as "Eaten By The Beasts" mixes two storylines fromt the novel, which our album is based upon. We are very excited by the outcome. It encompasses exactly what we imagined for the video to be like and we hope you agree!

AS I MAY announces that a new drummer has been found, after Marko Korhonen decided to leave the band, due to wanting to seek out other endeavors.

The new guy behind the kit will be the talented Mr. Leevi Räsänen, who is right now learning all the songs from the older releases as well as getting acquainted with the new material, the band is composing for the follow-up to 2019's critically acclaimed album "My Own Creations".

Also, the European tour, as support act of Semblant, has been postponed to spring 2021, due to the Covid-19 virus, and the dates can be viewed HERE!

Progressive metal powerhouse Sensory Records welcomes New Jersey's EVERDAWN to their roster. The label has signed the band for the upcoming release of their Dan Swanö-mastered second album, Cleopatra.

EVERDAWN was originally created in March 2014 under the moniker Midnight Eternal, when Richard Fischer and Boris Zaks (both of Operatika) invited Daniel Prestup (Rivera Bomma, Spider Rockets) and Mike LePond (Symphony X) to record a two-song single. Lead vocalist Raine Hilai and a bassist Greg Manning were enrolled into the full-time lineup, as Mike LePond wasn't available for a full-time commitment to the band.

In early 2016, EVERDAWN signed deals with Intromental Management and Marquee/Avalon (Asia) and Inner Wound Recordings (Europe/North America) for the release of their self-titled debut album. The record was engineered by Eric Rachel (Skid Row, Symphony X), mixed and mastered by Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, Jorn), and completed with artwork created by Jan Yrlund (Apocalyptica, Korpiklaani, Delain).

The band embarked on a North American tour, as support of the amazing prog-veterans Queensryche and also toured Europe as support for the avantgarde masters Therion - two amazing and lengthy tours that took the name of the band to another level. EVERDAWN was suddenly a band to be reckoned with after only one album.

When the time to record the follow-up album arrived, the band parted ways with Raine Hilai and Greg Manning, and as the direction of the band began to expand, the new moniker EVERDAWN was chosen. They welcomed talented Russian-born Canadian singer Alina Gavrilenko, who brought a full-blown energetic vocal approach into the new songs while retaining respect to the band's ultra-melodic metal. Also returning to the restructured lineup is Mike LePond, who once again brings his amazing skills to the ranks of EVERDAWN.

In the spring of 2020, EVERDAWN inked a worldwide deal with New Jersey-based record label Sensory Records - a division of The Laser's Edge - for the release of the band's now completed second album, Cleopatra. The new album was recorded during 2019, after which it was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Opeth, Evergrey, Oddland, Omnium Gatherum). Promising to be a huge new step for the band, Cleopatra is now being finalized for release in the second half of 2020.

Watch for updates on Cleopatra to be issued in the weeks ahead.

Intromental Worldwide is proudly announcing the signing of the Israeli Melodeath tech-metal act, STRUCTURAL.

Following the footsteps of acts like Nevermore, Death and Archenemy, STRUCTURAL delivers an intense and mind-blowing fist of technical death metal, adding layers of fantastic melody on top. Aggressive riffing and intense energy fills the loudspeakers when you listen to their debut album "Metacognition", and with the brutal growling of Nadav Zaidman, the experience is complete.

Danish thrash/power concept masters, MANTICORA are announcing the release of their 9th full-length album, which will be named: "To Live To Kill To Live".

The album, which is the 2nd part of their grand concept (a 334 page horror/thriller novel and a double concept album, written upon the novel) is set to be released on August 28th, 2020 through ViciSolum Records! It will contain more than an hour of new music and each song will have its own piece of artwork, making the story-telling - which MANTICORA have specialized in - more than just words. It's all or nothing, according to the band.

Once again, Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe, Pretty Maids, a.o.) will be skillfully mixing and mastering the album and David Troest will be delivering mind-bogglingly eerie pictures for both frontcover and booklet, as he did on the first album in the concept.

Kristian Larsen (guitars) comments on the album:
6 years in the making, and now we're looking at the wrapping up of this huge project of ours. It feels really good to finally being able to round things off, but at the same time, it's strangely sad that we can see the end of this. So many things have happened during the last 6 years - both within the band, our personal lives and with the music industry. We have toured around the globe and played huge festivals on the basis of the first of these 2 albums, and I seriously can't see, why we shouldn't do it again!

Having developed a project like this - from the first written words from Lars, to the first riffs from me and the boys - has been a huge experience for all of us. We've matured a lot as a band in the process and at the same time learned many new things along the way. Doing such a huge concept is an immense and time-consuming project and it is now reaching its zenith. All of us have a feeling that "this could very well be our best effort yet" and we are beyond proud of what we have achieved with these 2 albums and the novel.

The Danish thrash/power concept masters in MANTICORA are welcoming back their old bass player extra ordinaire, Kasper Gram, in the band!

Kasper originally joined the band in 2002 on the 3rd album "Hyperion", and laid his thunderous patterns on the bass strings up and until late 2013, where he decided to leave to pursue other musical endeavors. In January 2019, he began playing with MANTICORA again, due to the departure of Sebastian Andersen (who had filled in for Kasper in the 6-year gap), and after a year of both European tour, summer festivals in Europe and shows in Japan, Kasper is now a full time member of the band, once again.

In Kasper's own words:

Hello Manti-fans & bass lovers!
For the past year I’ve been playing as a stand-in bass player in Manticora. I have had so much fun and really enjoyed being back in the band and hanging out with the guys again, after a 5 year break. Therefore I’ve decided to stay in the band for good, to embark on new adventures with the Manti-dudes in the future to come!

Intromental Worldwide is very pleased to announce the signing of the young, Icelandic progressive hardrock/metal act, RING OF GYGES.

With intriguing and odd rhythmic patterns, a fresh set of eyes on the 70'ies version of prog rock - and an ability to transfer this to the modern age prog metal, Ring of Gyges are combining several worlds of music in their approach towards prog perfection.
Although Ring Of Gyges are heavily inspired by the progressive rock bands of the 70'ies, their sound is much more metal-oriented and draws influences from progressive bands of the modern age. They strive to create epic and grandiose music with unconventional song structures and vast soundscapes, often accompanied by philosophical lyrics.

Please feel free to spread the video.

With high-soaring powerhouse vocals of lead singer Hellen Heart, Nightqueen's symphonic power metal hits you right in the face and takes you prisoner from the first riff to the last. Imagine Iron Maiden meeting Helloween in the late 70'ies and adding the female mixture of Robert Plant and Ian Gillian on vocals. Update the sound to the new millennium and you get Nightqueen.

Due to an un-intended and quite dramatic turn of event, the band Midnight Eternal has ceased to exist under exactly that name. Out of the ashes, rises the band EVERDAWN, which will be a natural continuation of the old band with 3 founding and thereby original members in the fold (Richard Fischer, Dan Prestup and Boris Zaks, who also composed the music in Midnight Eternal). In a truly poetic transition, eternal midnight is over and the future shall now belong to the band that will see the dawn forever.

The reasons for the change of name and the somewhat new beginning a name-change signifies are many, but most of all, it involves a hi-jacking of the band's webpage as well as the band's Social Media pages by former members of the band - an act that ought to be brought to court, but also an act that - if brought to court - would be causing for a possible extended delay in getting new music out to the fans of the band. It also involves a belittled ex-singer, who - after having been shown the door, due to delivering one of the most horrible performances on the demo for the new album - has grown malicious in her own little poisonous web of lies and delusions of grandeur.

EVERDAWN have decided that the best way to get over this speed-bump is to change the band's name, thereby leaving 9 months of quarrel and unwanted drama behind. The band wants to make music - not battle a figurehead of minor talent, so:

Richard Fischer, Boris Zaks, Dan Prestup, Mike LePond and Alina Gavrilenko bury the name of Midnight Eternal for good and continues under the moniker of EVERDAWN.

Boris Zaks/keyboards comments:

"What was once a dream shared among us is now a reality as EVERDAWN makes its debut. I simply could not be more proud of our upcoming album. It's thrilling to see the fruit of our efforts come alive ~ exciting things are happening and the band is officially ready for the world to join us."

Intromental Worldwide is proud to announce the signing of the UK-based melodic prog-act, SKY EMPIRE.

Sky Empire is a progressive metal band, based in the UK.

Stylistically, the music is guitar driven with a focus on heavy melodicism, a nod to the late great Dimebag Darrell whose heavy yet melodic riffing was a key influence on guitarist and songwriter Drazic Lecutier.

More broadly, Sky Empire's musical inspiration ranges from classic progressive, heavy rock and metal bands, notably Deep Purple, Rainbow, Yes, Rush and Journey through to more modern metal and progressive bands such as Iron Maiden, Pantera, Dream Theater and Symphony X.

Line-up:
Drazic Lecutier - Guitars
Jay Driscoll - Bass

Sky Empire independently released their first album "The Dark Tower" in early 2018.

Soon after, the band signed with Dutch progressive record label Rock Company after The Dark Tower came to the label's attention. In September 2018 the album was officially released by the label to positive reviews noting in particular the songwriting along with the band members' strong musical performances.

Sadly, in early 2019, Sky Empire's vocalist Yordan Ivanov lost his life in tragic circumstances. Ivanov's bandmates in Sky Empire, alongside family and friends, grieved for his loss in the period that followed.

With a contingent of the original line-up not wishing to continue after Ivanov's passing, Sky Empire swiftly appointed former Degola drummer Inaldo Ramos Ribeiro to line up alongside Lecutier and bassist Jay Driscoll (who had earlier replaced the band's erstwhile bassist, Tony Snow, who performed on The Dark Tower).

Sky Empire will appoint a new vocalist in due course and look forward to taking their music on the road, performing live the music from the Dark Tower - and beyond…

Intromental Worldwide is happy to announce the signing of Finnish dark, post-doom metal act, OCEANWAKE.

OCEANWAKE was established in the autumn of 2009 in a tiny and idyllic Finnish coastal town called Luvia, where all the musicians were born. Though everyone has since moved away from the town, the somewhat eccentric and unique spirit of Luvia is still strongly present in their music.

It is quite apparent that OCEANWAKE draws from a wide variety of influences, be it the music, the lyrics or the visuals - not to mention their live show which features a podium for the vocalist, situated upstage next to the drummer. But what's more important, they have succeeded in mixing all the ingredients so perfectly that it's almost impossible to find a specific genre to file them under. There is an indescribable twist in their approach to metal music that it keeps the focus on the music instead of “metal”. It's melodic, fragile and soothing at one moment but raw, relentless and downright frightening at another. Like a hovering mist on a placid shore in contrast with a raging storm that sweeps across the ocean..

OCEANWAKE is set to release their 4th album through Lifeforce Records on April 26th - an album, which should put the band amongst the frontrunners within a genre, they have helped define. Reviews are rolling in already and they are definitely not bad at all!

HEXED has announced Jay Matharu as permanent guitarist: After having played alongside HEXED on the European tour in March, the band has decided to have Jay Matharu join the ranks of the band permanently, for a completely stabil line-up.

The band comments:
Some time ago, Jay Matharu stepped in as our session guitarist since we decided for Teddy to have his full attention on Loch Vostok during the EU-Tour. So we began hanging out and rehearsed together for the tour. Under the tour we actually realized that he was the missing piece of the puzzle.

Together we are match. We all work together and get along as if Jay has been in the band since the beginning. Jay has the experience of being in other bands, touring and producing music as a solo artist. He has the productivity we need as well as the energy. He has the same visions for Hexed as we all have. So please, let’s all welcome Jay Matharu as the official new guitar player of HEXED!

We want to thank Teddy Möller for his time contributing his great talent, both as a drummer and on the guitars. Thank you Teddy for stepping in during this transitional period for Hexed. We love you and wish you all the best with Loch Vostok and all of the other projects.

More HEXED news coming...

The US-melodic/symphonic metal act Midnight Eternal has announced a vital line-up change for the upcoming second album, which is currently being written.

New lead singer in the band is the young and very talented Russian born, Canadian singer Alina Gavrilenko, who'll be bringing a full-blown energetic vocal into the new songs of Midnight Eternal. A bit of change in vocal style but still with respect to the sound of the band, so the fans can enjoy their princess-metal.

Returning to the band, as he was the initial founder alongside Boris, Dan and Richard, is none other than Mike LePond (Symphony X), who'll be sure to bring his amazing skills to the ranks of Midnight Eternal. Mike shouldn't need any further introduction, due to his work with the New Jersey-based Prog-Kings.

The changes in the line-up is amongst others, happening due to musical differences and the wish for a professional update to the presence of the band.

Boris Zaks/keyboards elaborates:
"We are thrilled to announce changes in the band's line-up. Re-joining on bass is Mike LePond who is best known as a long time bassist for premier US Progressive Metal band Symphony X. Alina Gavrilenko, who is a professionally trained soprano, has been involved in multiple projects such as Diamorte, Astaroth Incarnate, Snowmaiden as well as Battlesoul and is well known in a Canadian symphonic metal scene. The band is looking forward to completing the pre-production for an upcoming sophomore album and planning to enter the studio in the next few months."

he upcoming album follows 2012's "The New Eve", which saw amazing reviews, followed by a European tour as support for the legendary UK prog-metal act Threshold.

Keyboarder Fred Colombo comments:
With this 5th studio release, we're going back to where we belong - melodic progressive power metal, in the vein of our fan-fav album Anima. To achieve the bombastic sound and production we believe this album deserves, who else than L.A.-based French producer Damien Rainaud? Damien recently produced Fear Factory and Dragonforce and is the man we need for this record. We're more excited than ever with the recording of this new album and can't wait to share it with our fans and perform it on stage, later on!

The Danish thrash/power concept masters in MANTICORA have been confirmed to play at the World's largest heavy metal festival, WACKEN OPEN AIR in 2019!

It is the second time, the band plays at the legendary festival - last time was in 2012, where MANTICORA,played an awesome set in the Bull-tent.

Guitarist, Kristian Larsen states:
"We are absolutely stoked and super-thrilled to join the club of bands that have played at Wacken several times. It's not really something that happens to a lot of Danish bands, so for us it shows that the Wacken promoters have liked the huge concept of our new album and novel enough to put us on the fantastic roster in the Holy Land next year!! It's fantastic that more and more promoters are seeing the light!
We are looking forward to play some of our new songs for the fans, as well as some of our good old tunes."

Deaf Forever Magazine & Metalized Magazine present:
After receiving fantastic feedback for their new album "To Kill To Live To Kill", and having torn up the North American continent live, as support for Persefone in August and September, the Danish Thrash/Power veterans MANTICORA announce their upcoming 4th European headliner tour.

The tour, which will see the band again visiting a large part of Western Europe and Scandinavia will be taking place in March and the band promises to step it up on all parameters, when meeting the fans eye to eye.

Guitarist Stefan Johansson explains:
"We're super excited about heading out in Europe again. North America was fantastic, but being a support act there, we didn't have the chance to bring the full production. In Europe, we can do that and we'll do our utmost to bring along the heavy equipment, so our fans will experience the slap in the face it is, when we allign our sound and images to an audial and visual show - not just a concert! Join us, and bring your family….we all float down here…"

Manticora's brand-new video for the song "Echoes Of A Silent Scream" can be viewed HERE!

As direct support on the tour, MANTICORA will be bringing the Swedish Avantgarde death/melodic masters of LOCH VOSTOK: Modern progressive/aggressive. Avantgarde, yet accessible. Odd but smooth. Huge choruses, strong rhythms, tons of melody. If you're a fan of Devin, Gojira, Emperor, Soilwork etc, this is exactly your music. LOCH VOSTOK has released 7 albums - all of them a gem on its own - and the band has toured Europe several times, as support of a.o. Therion and King Diamond.

And the opening act will be the debut'ing semi-progressive and very melodic metal act HEXED.

The 6:05 min. video was shot at three different locations, and it was recorded, edited and produced by the talented movie-maker Kasper Serup Christensen of KSC productions.

Manticora's own words about the video:
This video is not your usual "Watch the band play their unplugged instruments", as we wanted to do something completely different. We wanted to tell a story, which seems to be the case every time we release anything, be it a book, an album or a video.
The video is a good and solid mini-movie that tells the story of the song "Echoes Of A Silent Scream", with scenes from the story in the book that Lars wrote. The killer is there (quadrupled into four in the digging scenes), the victims are there and the eerie feeling of violence to come is there as well. We hope our fans will enjoy the first visual from us for 8 years.

The album, which is the first of two, is a part of a grandiose concept, based on the thriller/horror novel that leadsinger, Lars F. Larsen has written, will be released as two separate albums, one year apart. Danish thrash/power metallers, MANTICORA, are presenting the cover artwork for their upcoming (8th) album - a stunning picture, painted by the extremely talented Danish painter/tattoo artist David Troest(www.facebook.com/david.troest).
As the new album "To Kill To Live To Kill" is another MANTICORA concept double-album, based on the thriller/horror novel that lead singer, Lars F. Larsen has written, the artwork resembles the stories of the novel.

To Kill To Live To Kill - Cover Art

Larsen explains:
"We have always tried out new cover artwork artists for each album, so when looking for the perfect person to give justice to the novel and the two albums, we wanted someone who'd be able to grasp the essence of the stories within the book, and when looking at David's pictures in general, it's evident for even the feeble-minded that he's that exact guy. He also lives less than an hour away from us, so it was a win-win situation for everyone to be able to meet up and do corrections on the front cover and all the other pictures that'll appear in the booklet. We're already beginning the work for the second album as well, so we can follow the release schedule of having the albums out 12 months apart."

The two concept albums, which are a part of a grandiose concept, based on the thriller/horror novel that leadsinger, Lars F. Larsen has written, will be released as two separate albums, one year apart.

The novel itself is scheduled for a May 2018 release, followed by the first album, which will see the light of day on August 3rd, 2018, released by ViciSolum Records, worldwide.

Tracklist for "To Kill To Live To Kill":

01. Piano Concerto 1 - B Flat minor...
02. Echoes Of A Silent Scream

09. Nothing Lasts Forever
10. Katana - Opium
11. Through The Eyes Of The Killer - Revival Of The Muse That Is Violence
12. The Farmer's Tale Pt. 2 - Annihilation At The Graves

In celebration of the up-coming European tour, starting out on March 24th, Persefone have decided to treat the fans with a brand-new track, honoring the immense support of said fans.

In Lak'Ech - Single Cover art

"In Lak'Ech" is a song, incorporating elements and atmospheres from the band's entire back catalogue and should aim at satisfying any Persefone listener, no matter which previous album is your favourite.

Miguel Espinosa (keys/clean vocals) explains:
"There’s been a lot of stuff going on lately in the Persefone camp. Tours, festivals, new releases… And from time to time we like to get ourselves involved in new musical experiences, other than playing live. So after our tour in Japan we came back full of ideas and we jumped into the studio and started working on what would become “In Lak’Ech”. The conceptual idea of the unity of the human, being the whole Universe, got us really inspired and it took us only two days to have the song ready. Then we contacted Logan Mader to make the mixing and Tim Charles from Ne Obliviscaris for him to participate in the song. As smooth as the song writing, both the mix, the violin and vocal part worked perfectly with the mood of the moment, and we are really glad to have finished this song that we will play on our upcoming tours!"

"In Lak'Ech" is set for release on March 23rd, as a 12" vinyl single, as well as through streaming, worldwide through Vicisolum Records.

Danish thrash/power metallers, MANTICORA, have inked a deal with ViciSolum Records from Sweden, for a Worldwide release of their upcoming 8th and 9th albums - the first material, released for almost 8 years!

The two albums, which are a part of a grandiose concept, based on the thriller/horror novel that leadsinger, Lars F. Larsen has written, will be released as two separate albums, one year apart. The novel itself is scheduled for an April 2018 release, followed by the first album, during the summer 2018.

Futhermore, the plan is to release the album in small droplets - one song at the time - for the die-hard fans in an as-of-yet unknown way of releasing music!! You will hear more about that!

Kristian Larsen comments:
"It's really cool to sign with a label, who's actually doing something for the bands, they are signing, be it promotion, advertisement and/or active hard work. We'll be label mates with our good friends from Persefone and Loch Vostok - what else does a metal musician need?"

The music will be recorded and mixed in Hansen Studios, with World-famous producer, Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Destruction, a.o.) who also produced the first two MANTICORA albums back in the last millenium, and vocals will be recorded with Tommy Hansen at Jailhouse studios (Helloween, Beyond Twilight, Jorn, a.o.). Tommy has previously produced five albums for the band.

MANTICORA have written more than 20 tracks for the upcoming releases, which sees a return to the concept-album style that, the band has been doing on four albums previously. The concept is based on the self-composed novel 'To Kill To Live To Kill', which is a horror/thriller story, but with a twist of extreme lunacy and horrid scenes of violence. Think 'Saw' meets 'American Psycho'!

MANTICORA have released 7 critically acclaimed albums, since 1999, and toured numerous times around Europe as well as in the US + played at prestigious festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Sweden Rock Festival, ProgPower USA, etc.

Persefone is the new rising star on the European progressive melodeath scene. Having released 5 critically acclaimed albums of extreme technical skills and fantastic songwriting, this band has climbed from being an unknown band from Andorra to claiming headliner status in Europe.

Persefone has previously toured the continent, as support for Obituary and Leprous, until they, co-headlined alongside Loch Vostok, and after the 2017 Persefone headliner tour, it's now about time to gain even more European ground, thus the "Aathma tour - part 2".

Sweden's sovereign avantgarde/melo-death act Loch Vostok have announced the worldwide release date of their seventh album "Strife", through Vicisolum Records.

The release date will be: November 24th!

However, early birds can already on September 29th hear the single-release, which will be the song "Summer"! An excellent 4 minute tracker, which makes Mike Patton almost seem normal, but which also brings the natural Loch Vostok trademark sound into the listener's ear.

"Strife"deals with loss on every imaginable level, the loss of life, love, monetary assets, friends and so on, but also the rebuild afterwards.

Leadsinger/guitarist, Teddy Möller tells it, as it is:
"Expect the unexpected. Djent, modern progressive, dark, gloomy, groovy, doom, black metal, pop and ridiculously heavy. Huge production. In your face/wall of sound. Songwriting in it's most unpure form, still as catchy as the plague and as beautiful as summer rain."

Today, September 1st - 2017, marks the release date of Israeli/Norwegian prog-rockers Subterranean Masquerade's masterpiece of a new album "Vagabond".

Order on the net at this link: "Here"

The reactions from the press is quite fantastic, and if this is the standard-reaction to expect from the fans as well, this album will lift the trend-setting band to new heights on the popularity-spectre. A few chosen excerpts:

Musika: 10/10, HeavyMetal.dk: 9/10, PowerMetal.de: 9/10, LyEzine: 9.5/10, MetalZine.gr: 8.5/10.....a.o.

The artwork for "Vagabond" was created by artist Ben Danzig and the rest of the booklet has been put together by none other than Travis Smith, widely known for his contribution to the metal-world of art.

Subterranean Masquerade features members of Orphaned Land and Green Carnation, and is one of the most exciting ethnic-influenced prog-artists to emerge from the underground layer these days. It's prog-rock, but it's also psychedelic 70'ies metal. It's "Jesus Christ Superstar" but also Israeli folklore and traditional heavy metal - all wrought through the grinder and delivered perfectly by a bunch of very talented musicians.

The album was mixed by Christer Andre Cederberg (Anathema, Tristania, etc.) and mastered by Tony Lindgren @ Fascination Street Studios.

Six weeks prior to releasing the upcoming album "Vagabond" Israeli/Norwegian prog-rockers Subterranean Masquerade release the lyric-video for the 1st single of the album. The song, chosen as the video-appetizer for the album, is "Nomad", which is the 2nd track of the upcoming opus.

Tomer Pink (guitars) comments:
"Nomad" is one of the earliest tracks written for "Vagabond". It's heavy, progressive, mixing all the elements from which this album is made of and kicks ass live ;) The lyrics tell the story of visiting a far away place, trying to run away from inside demons until eventually facing them.

The lyric-video was created with the talent of the gifted Rafael Ortega, who has perfectly captured the feelings of the song, in the visual art.

Signed to the Swedish label Vicisolum Records (Persefone, Loch Vostok, a.o.) for a 2-album deal, "Vagabond"is set for release on September 1st.

We're extremely happy to announce that we've signed ODDLAND. For more information on ODDLAND, please visit this link.

In other news, Finnish progressive metal outfit ODDLAND has issued a newly-filmed video this week, ahead of the band's European tour with labelmates Wolverine and Until Rain, which kicks off this Wednesday.

ODDLAND's new video was filmed and edited by Ville Viitanen for a brand new acoustic version of "Unknown," which initially appeared in a fully heavy/electric version on their second album, Origin, released in September 2016 through Laser's Edge division Sensory Records. The video sees its public debut through an exclusive at PureGrainAudio.

Issues the band on the acoustic version of the song, "We've been fiddling around with acoustics every now and then and really fell in love with the idea of making an acoustic version of a song on Origin. ‘Unknown' seemed the most fitting candidate, and luckily, we were able to book the beautiful medieval castle of our hometown Turku to record this performance. It was really the perfect choice with the haunting ambience and enchantingly echoing stone walls."

See ODDLAND's acoustic "Unknown" video at PureGrainAudio.

Also check out ODDLAND's previously-released "Will" video at Youtube.

The follow-up to ODDLAND's Century Media-released 2012 debut The Treachery Of Senses, Origin was recorded in part by the band and completed at Fantom Studio (Insomnium, Korpiklaani, Oranssi Pazuzu), then mixed and mastered by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir).

The hi-rez 24-bit version of Origin is streaming and available for purchase HERE, and the regular CD available via Laser's Edge/Sensory and Amazon.

ODDLAND Tour Dates:
4/26/2017 The Bodega – Nottingham, UK w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
4/27/2017 Garage Highbury – London, UK w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
4/28/2017 La Boule Noure – Paris, FR w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
4/29/2017 Boerderij – Zoetermeer, NL w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
4/30/2017 W2 – Hertogenbosch, NL w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
5/03/2017 Musik & Frieden – Berlin, DE w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
5/04/2017 Beta2300 – Copenhagen, DK w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
5/05/2017 Frölunda Kulturhus – Gothenburg, SE w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
5/06/2017 Bowlan – Östhammar, SE w/ Wolverine, Until Rain
5/26/2017 Musaopisto – Turku, FI

In a 9/10 review of Origin, The Prog Mind offers, "ODDLAND's long-awaited follow-up is definitely worth the wait. It's an absolutely masterful example of how heaviness can be used to brilliant effect. Instead of simply chugging along, it invades our senses with brilliant composition, exploratory lyrics, and unadulterated heaviness."

Heavy Blog Is Heavy plugged the album with a 4/5 review which states, "This seems to be a successful mix between dark progressive metal and approaches more often found in 'brighter' bands like Textures or Haken. For those who enjoy the tension stemming from those two focal points, there's a lot to be found here that is moving. The 'Nordic prog' scene is still growing, and it's great that ODDLAND are pushing the boundaries in their own unique, twisted way."

We Love Metal's coverage of the album states, "ODDLAND's combination of intensity, melody, and complexity hits the Prog sweet spot. Origin nearly comes across as a seamless work with songs occasionally flowing into one another. What strikes me is the consistency ODDLAND has in their approach, whether in the crushingly heavy sections or the light passages."

Sweden's masters of gloomy progressive metal, WOLVERINE, will embark on their headlining European tour next week, joined by Laser's Edge Group collective labelmates Oddland and Until Rain. Preceding the tour, the band offers an official new video to their fans, the visual depiction of the epic "Pledge," one of the standout tracks of the band's fifth album, Machina Viva.

Machina Viva was recorded and produced by WOLVERINE in various locations throughout Sweden during late 2015 and early 2016, mixed at Spacelab Studio in Germany by Christian "Moschus" Moos (Everon, Haken, Delain, Cloverseeds), and mastered by Grammy Award winning audio engineer Bob Katz. A natural progression from Communication Lost, released in 2011 via Candlelight Records, Machina Viva invites the listener into the harmonious yet portentous and sullen musical dimensions of WOLVERINE with perhaps their most dynamic album to date.

See WOLVERINE's new video for "Pledge" at PureGrainAudio.

Offers WOLVERINE's Thomas Jansson about the rapidly approaching tour with their labelmates, "At the end of April we will hit the road for a European co-headline tour together with Until Rain and Oddland. All three bands being Sensory label artists, this tour-package will offer the listener a vivid spectrum of explorative music, mainly in the sphere of progressive metal."

WOLVERINE Tour Dates w/ Oddland, Until Rain:
4/26/2017 The Bodega - Nottingham, UK
4/27/2017 Garage Highbury - London, UK
4/28/2017 La Boule Noure - Paris, FR
4/29/2017 Boerderij - Zoetermeer, NL
4/30/2017 W2 - Hertogenbosch, NL
5/03/2017 Musik & Frieden - Berlin, DE
5/04/2017 Beta2300 - Copenhagen, DK
5/05/2017 Frölunda Kulturhus - Gothenburg, SE
5/06/2017 Bowlan - Östhammar, SE

In a 9/10 review, Progressive Music Planet claims, "WOLVERINE have a dark prog metal sound and they are really good at it... WOLVERINE should be mentioned in the same breath with all of the current great modern prog artists like Steven Wilson, Katatonia and Opeth. Machina Viva is another crowning achievement for them."

A 9/10 from The Prog Mind offers Machina Viva, "is an album about where the rubber meets the road. It's about that certain spot where the gears meet together, and about making sure those gears are moving smoothly. It is a soothing album full of emotion highs and lows, but also an elegant sense of musicality and composition. Machina Viva, without a doubt, is WOLVERINE at their best."

Angry Metal Guy offers, "Machina Viva is a well-mixed, well-produced record. As one might expect, the band employs a plethora of instruments here - electric, electronic, and acoustic - and all come through the mix clean and vibrant... Perhaps most similar to a lighter version of modern day Katatonia, or a more orchestral version of Pleasant Shade of Grey-era Fates Warning, Machina Viva (and Wolverine's back catalog by extension) is worth a listen."

We Love Metal's review includes, "Often producing a highly atmospheric sound, sometimes stripped down and bare, sometimes complex, the band is definitely on the lighter side of Metal as a whole... All throughout WOLVERINE seems to enjoy playing in odd time signatures lending to the layer of complexity."

Boasting a storyline and visual conveyance as intense as the song itself, the video for "Because Something Might Happen" was directed and filmed by Charlene Mercedes, with post-production by Tolis Karoulas, and features special guest Venetia Psomiadou.

The members of UNTIL RAIN issue with the single, "Excited to release our first video taken from our upcoming release, Inure. This video represents everything this album deals with and shows the bright and the dark side of the human mind."

Inure was recorded by UNTIL RAIN in various European cities, including Thessaloniki, London, Gothenburg, and Lausanne, and mixed/mastered by Daniel Cardoso of Anathema in Lisbon, Portugal (Anneke Van Giersbergen, Anathema, Head Control System). The Andorran progressive metal monster a.k.a. PERSEFONE is releasing "Living Waves", the second video from their highly-acclaimed 5th album "Aathma" which was released worldwide on February 24th. The song features a very special guest appearance from the legendary Paul Masvidal (Cynic, ex Death).

Watch "Living Waves" here.

Guitarist Carlos Lozano's own words about "Living Waves": "Picking one song from an album that works as a whole, is always a complicated task. "Living Waves" marks the middle point, musically as well as lyrically on the album before its conclusion, and with the addition of Paul Masvidal's vocals, lyrics and guitar playing, it creates a unique atmosphere by itself. That's why we chose this piece of music and this message, to go along with the images in this clip"

"It's only once in every three, four years that we can express ourselves with freedom as musicians, by making music under the name of Persefone. Each album is a picture of our lives and the way we're experiencing this journey. It's the first time we feel there's someone out there, waiting for the album and we are doing our best to make honest music that shows the spirit and essence of the band. It's not about releasing albums. It's all about the music."

Progressive metal act PERSEFONE releases an animated video for the song "Prison Skin". It's the first single out from the already critical acclaimed album "Aathma" that will be in stores, worldwide on February 24.

PERSEFONE's own words about the song:
"It's been some time since we finished and mixed the album. Although we couldn't wait to share this music with everyone, some steps have to be followed before the release. The wait is almost over. During this time we have had the chance to witness a highly appreciated feedback from media and now we are ready to finally show you the first single from AATHMA. The single "Prison skin" is the first full track of the album and makes a musical statement about how the album will develop musically and sets the mood for the lyrical concept. It was supposed to be a lyric video in the beginning, but the people behind this creation did such a great job that we decided to go with just the animation part. But please, make sure you read the lyrics as you listen to the music, because one part meets the other to bring this concept to live. Thanks for the patience, love and support."

Thursday, November 17th 2016, marks the beginning of the recording of Intromental Management/Vicisolum Productions artist, LOCH VOSTOK's seventh album "Strife". Leadsinger/guitarist, Teddy Möller explains: "Where do you go after disappointment strikes? Who do you trust after betrayal hits you like a knife in the back? Why do you choose to go on and on, through hardship after hardship? Answers will follow!"

Musically, "Strife" travels through doom, djent, progressive and post-black territories, very modern, but recorded organically, open wide to the fluctuations of time, without ever looking back.

The album will be recorded at Frontporch Productions and will be mixed/mastered by David Castillo (Katatonia, Dark Tranquility, Sepultura). Release date is set around April/May 2017.

Almost four years have passed since PERSEFONE unleashed to their highly acclaimed album "Spiritual Migration". An impressive album that took both the press and the listeners by storm (1,2 million clicks on Youtube!). When the calendar shows February 24, 2017 it's finally time to experience the evolution of Persefone with their new album "Aathma"! The album will contain 10 new songs and it's mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street. The artwork is once again created by Travis Smith. "Aathma" will for sure set the standard for progressive metal in 2017!

Persefone's own words about "Aathma":
"It's only once in every three, four years that we can express ourselves with freedom as musicians, by making music under the name of Persefone. ":KTONIK:", the new album from the Polish prog rock/metal band VOTUM will be released on February 26th in Europe and North America through Inner Wound Recordings.

The album was mixed by David Castillo at Ghost Ward [Katatonia, Opeth, Bloodbath] and mastered by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios [Paradise Lost, Kreator, Leprous].

VOTUM combines dark and vibrant atmosphere with metal traditions, bringing both force and ambience to play. The band is no stranger to musical diversity with subtle cinematic frailty and modern electronica. Dealing in powerful guitars and acoustic ballads VOTUM creates a very specific blend of fresh and unusual approach to progressive rock and metal.

Check out a short album teaser here.

With the street date for Italian progressive metal sextet KINGCROW's sixth album, Eidos, rapidly approaching, a new single from the record has been released through an exclusive premiere of "At The Same Pace" at BraveWords.com.

Boasting over an hour of material which closes the path-of-life saga of their prior two albums -- Phlegethon dealing with childhood, and In Crescendo about the end of youth -- Eidos carries a more foreboding, ominous edge than KINGCROW's other releases. "At The Same Pace" is the eighth of the ten brand new movements on the album, and after leading off with a somber, clean intro, the track lifts off into a nearly eight-minute endeavor, which is as heavily motivated by synth-soaked atmospheres as it is a mid-paced, thundering, drive.

Listen to KINGCROW's "At The Same Pace" via BraveWords now at THIS LOCATION.

With the nearing release of Eidos, the sixth studio full-length from Italian progressive metal troupe KINGCROW nearing release next month through Sensory Records, the first single has been released through an official video for the track, "The Moth," via an exclusive premiere with massive print and online entity Prog Magazine.

Showcasing the Rome-based KINGCROW sextet's expansive take on forward-thinking metal in a completely different approach than ever before, the video for "The Moth" was created in a unique animated style by Argentinean artist Gastón Viñas, widely known for his similarly-styled works for Radiohead, including videos for their songs "2+2=5" and "A Wolf At The Door," which combined have collected nearly fifteen million views on YouTube.

Issues band guitarist/backing vocalist Diego Cafolla about the song, "When we started to think about the first single, 'The Moth' seemed the obvious choice to us since it's short, busy and quite catchy at the same time and shows also some new ingredients to our sound…". He continues about the inception of the video, "I was listening to a Radiohead playlist on YouTube when this animated video (for the song "2+2=5") popped up and I found it terrific and mesmerizing… I contacted Gastón Viñas, the author of the animation, just to tell him how much I appreciated his art…he wrote me back that he listened and loved KINGCROW's music and that's how it started. I gave him some inputs about the album concept, the artwork and the song's lyrics and he came out with another brilliant piece of art!"

Fans of progressive and melodic metal are offered a real treat, when Finnish band SIMULACRUM release their new concept album "Sky Divided" through Inverse Records on August 28, 2015. An album, seeking the boundaries of the melodic and progressive universe, with new and refreshing ideas to the genre. Huge choruses and heavy riffing, underlined by big-laden atmospheric keys, finally topped with a strong and powerful voice.

The artwork (view it here) was expertly created by Jan Yrlund, who has worked with artists, such as Manowar, Stratovarius and Sirenia - and the cover portrayes the post-apocalyptic mood of the album's title track.

To support the album release SIMULACRUM has tons of material packed away, and it will be released in the weeks, leading up to the release date, through the bands website, social media and webzines. There will be three big-budget music videos (one is already released), multicam live video recordings from Turku Klubi, a teaser of the songs and making-of video snippets.

We're very proud to announce the signing of one of the really exciting artists, to emerge from Poland in the recent years - VOTUM. The Polish melodic post-rock/metal scene is thriving and Votum is a fantastic ambassador for this particular style of music. Ambience, aggression, melody, catchiness...they have it all. They'll be a great add, to an already splendid Intromental roster (if we may say so), and we expect big things to happen for the band.

More info about the band can be found in the ARTISTS section of our site.

April 15, 2015

Rome, Italy's progressive metal masters, KINGCROW, have wrapped up the final touches on the band's valiant sixth album, Eidos, and is preparing to release it through Sensory Records this June.

Describing the band today is quite a difficult task, but one could state that the influence of such artists as Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Opeth, Anathema, Pink Floyd, Meshuggah, Radiohead, King Crimson and Massive Attack are all present in the music of KINGCROW. With each release, the band has taken a step further away from their original roots as a classic hard rock/metal band, and is today one of the most personal and exciting bands that Italy has to offer the scene.

Following the success of their In Crescendo album released through Sensory in February 2014, KINGCROW returns this year witih Eidos, a new conceptual album about choices, consequences, dealing with regret and disillusion. After their album, Phlegethon, dealt with childhood, and In Crescendo about the end of youth, Eidos can be considered the third part of a trilogy about the path of life. Musically it sees the band exploring new territories and pushing the extremes of its complex soundscape with a darker atmosphere and a more progressive attitude. With over an hour of new material, Eidos is the next logical progression in the evolution of KINGCROW, and will open the next doorway for what lies in wait for them next.

Also responsible for the release of KINGCROW's In Crescendo album, Sensory Records - the metal subdivision of progressive music collective, The Laser's Edge - will unveil Eidos worldwide on June 23rd. Additional album details and audio samples will be released in the very near future.

Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS, who are set to release their newest studio album "The Congregation" on May 25th, 2015 in Europe and June 2nd, 2015 in North America via InsideOutMusic are now debuting the first new music for the release via the video clip for the opening-track "The Price".

Presented by Prog Mag and Metal Hammer in the UK/Europe, Metal Hammer in Germany and Metal Injection in North America, you can now check the dynamic video directed by David Solbjørg and Kjetil Kolbjørnsrud of Twitchy Films (who already worked with the band on their previous clips!) right here.

LEPROUS have checked in with the following comment about the clip: "The Price was the obvious choice for us to make a video of. It's straight to the point, technical, focused, catchy and shows a new side of LEPROUS. We're very happy to be working with Twitchy Films also this time, and they've done a impeccable job creating an atmospheric and artistic video clip."

With their second album, "Liberator" (ViciSolum Productions), receiving worldwide acclaim hailed as "...the Prog/Power release to beat for 2014" by Metal Crypt and "...an album you simply have to own" by Metal As Fuck, DIVINE ASCENSION is embarking on a national headlining tour throughout Australia followed by a tour as the main support for German power metal legends, Blind Guardian, for their entire "Beyond The Red Mirror" Australian Tour 2015.

To launch their first national tour, Divine Ascension have now released their highly anticipated "Liberator" film clip. Filmed over three days with director Michael Pace of Pace Audio at the helm, the band decided to push music video medium introducing special effects, actors and an ominous undercurrent that permeates through the central story line.

All of these elements work to further amplify the music which can only be described as exhilarating and captivating. It has erroneously been suggested that the metal scene is dying in Australia. It's not dead ... it's been filming!

February 19, 2015

Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS have wrapped up work for their newest studio album, which follows up 2013's acclaimed "Coal" release. The album will be entitled "The Congregation" and is to be released on May 25th, 2015 in Europe and June 2nd, 2015 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

LEPROUS vocalist and keyboard player Einar Solberg has checked in as follows about the album:
"This has without doubt been the most challenging album to write so far, if you count the amount of hours, blood, sweat and tears behind it. Which makes me extra proud to just have delivered the master of what I consider to be the most daring, technical, fresh and mature album we've ever done. The music of "The Congregation" is mostly written by me on my computer, so that I this time around could use my ears instead of my knowledge as the main writing tool. If you use your knowledge and your usual methods to write every album, you will eventually find yourself stuck in a quagmire of old habits. Lyrically "The Congregation" covers the dangers and consequences of blindly following the flow, thus the album title will speak for itself."

LEPROUS have recorded the drums, guitars and bass for their new album in Sweden's Fascination Street / Ghostward Studios with David Castillo (Katatonia, Opeth) and the vocals together with Heidi Solberg Tveitan & Vegard Tveitan at Mnemosyne Studios in Norway. Just like the preceding albums "Bilateral" and "Coal", "The Congregation" was mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Symphony X, Kreator).

Next to some previously announced festival appearances and the newly added show at Fortarock in The Netherlands in June, LEPROUS are now revealing the first dates for their extensive European headlining tour in support of "The Congregation" for September-October, alongside Rendezvous Point and another yet to be announced main support act. "The Cloak", the new video from Norwegian progressive metallers LEPROUS, can be seen here. The song somes off the band's new album, "Coal", which will be released on May 28 in North America (May 20 in Europe) via InsideOut Music. The cover artwork for the CD was created by acclaimed American artist Jeff Jordan, who produced the artwork for the band's last album, "Bilateral", in addition to working with The Mars Volta.

Says LEPROUS: "While we're anxiously waiting to release 'Coal' to the public, another taste of it is coming your way.

"A while back we announced a video was in the making, and now everything is ready for your eyes and ears. 'The Cloak' is our second music video, and we're extremely excited to finally release it."

The group adds: "We spent one very long day inside the Konnerud Hill Mines here in Norway, getting some very interesting footage. The video, just like the clip for 'Restless' on our previous album, was made by Twichty Films, but we promise you no fish or cake was harmed this time around. Jacksonville Florida's melodic metal quartet ARTIZAN have released the single "I Am the Storm" from their forthcoming sophomore effort "Ancestral Energy". Check out the song courtesy of Metal Underground HERE.

Although they have created a truly unique sound for themselves, many comparisons to classic Iron Maiden, Queensryche and Fates Warning have been made. Clean, multi-octave vocals, classic riffing, spirited melodies and a touch of progressive elements are woven into the seven tracks on the new album. Matt Barlow (Ex-Iced Earth) is a special guest on the epic 10 minute title track. The album illustration was created by Berlin based artist Eliran Kantor (Testament,Evile,Hatebreed,Atheist,Sigh).

"Ancestral Energy" will be released on May 10, 2013 via Pure Steel Records.

Now, acclaimed Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS, is revealing the cover artwork for "Coal" (their new album to be released on May 20th, 2013 in Europe and May 28th, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic), conceived no other than acclaimed American artist Jeff Jordan, who already took care of the previous album release "Bilateral" and also worked for bands like The Mars Volta. Here is what LEPROUS had to say about the artwork:

"The artwork for this album was a hard nut to crack. We wanted something dark, melancholic but with a distinct character. We tried several solutions without finding the perfect supplement for the music, before we decided to contact Jeff Jordan once again. Jeff immediately had wonderful ideas that we decided to pursue. The artwork of "Coal" is in my opinion the most iconic we've had so far."

Acclaimed Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS are getting ready to release their new album "Coal" on May 20th, 2013 in Europe and May 28th, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

In order to give a first sneak-preview of this intriguing and challenging release, LEPROUS have now launched a first new song today in Europe via the website of UK's Metal Hammer magazine.

Check out "Chronic" here: www.metalhammer.co.uk/news/leprous-premiere-new-track-chronic.

LEPROUS singer / synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song as follows: "We're delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album "Coal"! "Coal" is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where "Bilateral" was playful and "in-your face", "Coal" is subtle and floating. "Chronic" however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leprous has never before explored."

After finishing off a very eventful and busy past year of promotions for their previous album release, "Bilateral", acclaimed Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS had directly entered studios to start the recordings for their next album after wrapping up their "European Progressive Assault" headlining tour in September-October 2012.

The new album is entitled "Coal" and will be released on May 20th, 2013 in Europe and May 28th, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

LEPROUS singer / synth-player Einar Solberg comments on the release as follows:
"With our upcoming album "Coal" I feel we are one step closer to a personal expression. Heidi Solberg Tveitan and Vegard Tveitan of Mnemosyne were the producers of this album, together with LEPROUS. They helped us a lot with reaching the full potential of the songs, and the album would not be equally good without their expertise. Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren @ Fascination Street Studios mixed the material and have made this album shine like nobody else could.
I see less interest in defining music than in creating music, but I will give a short overview on what to expect...
"Coal" is a more melancholic and darker album than the more playful "Bilateral". By darker I don't mean more aggressive, but more severe. There is still a big range in the dynamics, but no jumping between different moods within a song. We cannot wait to show this album to the world!"
